brow testimonials
I first got my brows microbladed by Michelle 10 years ago and honestly haven’t had to redo them. I only got them done again recently cus I wanted a mommy makeover. I am obsessed with my new brows and have been getting so many compliments! Michelle is super thorough and knowledgeable. I love that she explains each step as she is working her magic and always makes sure you’re comfortable and happy. It’s a bonus that the salon is so beautiful and chic. I trust her and her team 100% would def recommend!

Eyebrows are such an important feature on the face. For someone that doesn't do very much to my face Michelle made me feel confident in choosing her as my artist. When asked questions, her answers and opinions were very honest and sincere. What was most impressive was actually how efficient she was -- not because she was rushing through anything but it just shows how SKILLED she is. The girl is talented. From mapping my brows to the actually tattooing, her high level of experience really shines through in her efficiency and more importantly, her work.
Overall I am beyond happy with the outcome of my eyebrows! I highly, highly recommend Michelle.

I got my eyebrows done by Michelle a few days ago and it turned out so good and I love it! I got the full combination brow service done since my original eyebrows were thin and light. She took the time to chat with me and talk about what I want and in combination of her expertise, it turned out so good. It’s exactly what I wanted and even better!!! She was very professional and personable during my appointment. I would highly recommend her!!!

I did combination and the colour Michelle picked as well as the artistry of drawing the brows are so perfect - straight, even, natural looking and it’s great how I don’t have to touch-up my eyebrows anymore. I have been getting tons of compliments and I swear I wish I did this earlier. I did microblading with a different artist 4 years ago and Michelle was able to fix it (it was more of a red colour) and Michelle fixed it with a more dark brown colour which looks way better on me - not only that my shaped was updated and modernized and looks so much better on my face now than my last eyebrows. I think I am forever a fan and will continue to get touch-ups done here. Michelle is the best for a reason, you won’t regret it.

I absolutely loved the professionalism and kindness I received from Viki.
She would do my brows and show them to make sure I was completely satisfied.
I am so happy with my eyebrows. I haven't had brows since I was a teenager before I over plucked them. I highly recommend. I love my new eyebrows and they look so natural. Thank you! 😊

I had full combination of brow beautification May 2nd… by Michelle. I felt she was very knowledgeable, professional and seems to be that ‘one- step ahead’ of other clinicians. Her practice is well organized and clean and she’s very cautious about what she recommends (she chooses what is right for you). I am excited to see the outcome of my results over time, go to the touch ups and see how this treatment holds up. I highly recommend Michele for brow treatments.

I have been searching for a place to have my brows done for 3 years as my first experience a few years ago, was not done well. Finally, I met someone whose brows looked amazing and she referred me to Aiko. As someone who is a senior, I am very cautious about where I go. My experience from start to finish was wonderful - clean and professional environment, but most importantly, Aiko was very patient and took her time with me. I especially appreciated the strong teamwork of the Meraki staff as Michelle came by to give a slight adjustment and nod of approval. I am so happy and will definitely refer my friends to Aiko! Thank you for giving me brows : )

My powder ombré brow appointment was seriously flawless. From beginning to end there isn’t a thing I would change or ask for a better service. I traveled fromVictoria for this appointment and previously had microblading done a few times before. Not only did Aiko color correct and do an unreal job on the shape, but finding out she also was from the island and we even had some mutual friends in common on top of her being such a fun and chill, awesome human was icing on the cake. This appointment was mainly for my wedding that’s in October in Mexico and I’m so grateful because not only will my brows literally be perfect for it but also just everyday, thank you so much Aiko!!

Aiko did microblading on my mother about two years ago. She was super kind and made sure to check in with my mother to ensure she was feeling comfortable and wasn’t in any discomfort. She explained and demonstrated how to maintain her brows following our appointment and two years later, my mothers brows are still looking great. We will definitely go back to Aiko again for our brows!

I got powder ombré brows done by Michelle who was so informative and patient. I’m pretty picky with the shape and colour of my brows and was worried that I wouldn’t be able to get something softer/natural. Michelle took the time to explain everything to me and was able to give me soft, natural brows! Super happy with the results and process. Would recommend her to anyone looking to save a little time in the morning.

brow services
Enhance your natural beauty with our professional, expert brow services, tailored to create the perfect shape for you.
Microblading
+ one free touch up
Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup procedure that uses a manual tool to insert pigment into the “epidermis” of the skin. The 7 to 18 tiny micro needles lined up to form a small blade, creates hair-like strokes. This procedure is perfect for normal to dry skin types who are seeking for a natural look that can be worn everyday with or without makeup.
Powder Ombre
+ one free touch up
Ombré is a French term meaning “having tones of color that shade into each other, graduating from light to dark”. This procedure uses a rotary machine mimicking a pen with a single needle and deposits ink under the “epidermis” layer of the skin to create a powder finish. Powder Ombré is ideal for clients who wear makeup on a daily basis and prefer lighter heads (front of the brows) and darker tails (end of the brow). This method in our opinion, is still the most reliable, retains the best and also does not discriminate against skin type.
Combination Brows
+ one free touch up
A combination of Microblading/Nano and Powder Ombré. Growing in popularity, this method is great for normal to combination skin types. Microblading/Nano will be done at the front/head of the brow while Powder Ombré is done in the middle to tail sections of the brow. Best of both worlds.
Nano Brows
+ one free touch up
Nano Brow is designed for those who are eager to improve the look of their brows without having that penciled-in look that many alternative PMU methods may produce. This procedure utilizes a special Nano Needle to create fine hair-like tattoo strokes that emulate real eyebrow hairs. The difference between Microblading and Nano Brows is that Microblading uses a manual tool with multiple needles side-by-side to form a blade whereas Nano uses a rotary machine with a single needle to implant pigment underneath the skin, resulting in less scarring and trauma to the skin. Nano brow typically lasts longer compared to Microblading and creates better healed results in combination to oily skin types.
Russian Powder Ombré
A more natural approach to the original Powder Ombré. The gradient lies horizontally; leaving a dark base and soft, pixelated border at the top of the eyebrow. This method is great for all skin types, but specifically clients with oilier skin and cannot keep Microblading strokes, yet want a natural look.
Brow Lamination
Brow Lamination is a 4-step system to design, sculpt, colour, define and shape your brows. We laminate the brows to manipulate the natural hairs into the desired position. This also helps to create several looks, like the brushed-up brow, perfect for clients who need correctional direction within the brow growth. This shape covers sparser areas of the brow and gives the illusion of a thicker brow until the desired re-growth has been reached. We then find the perfect shade of tint to enhance the colour of the client’s brows.

It all comes down to how dark and thin your brows are at the moment. Depending on the method you would like (microblading, powder ombre, combination, or nano), it may or may not work. Please always send a photo of your bare brows, preferably facing a window with natural lighting, to info@merakibeautybar.ca for approval before booking an appointment.
Yes, we are fully licensed. This includes my Permanent Cosmetics Technician license, Burnaby Health Inspection License, and the City of Burnaby Business license. All licenses are passed.
In the past, pigments that were used on the facial area such as the eyebrows were from the same pigments that were used on the body. Black ink was the main choice of pigment and as black is not an actual color (it is made of many colors), your body will slowly absorb the low-volume colors and can leave your brows with one shade (blue/green). Sun exposure can also turn this black pigment into a blue/green color as you are unable to block your face at all times (unlike your leg or arms with clothes). With the combination of black & body pigments, sun exposure, it may change the hue.
Here at Meraki Beauty Bar, all pigments used are organic inks and stay true to its color. We use Permablend Pigments which are high quality products and have been tested numerous times. Once the permanent cosmetic fades, it will fade to a lighter shade of the desired color.
No black pigments are used. Different shades of brown are chosen to match your skin undertone and hair color. Black pigments are generally used for body tattoos.
Depending on the method you are choosing, the inks are made of a mix of organic and inorganic inks.
Consultation is generally on the same day as the procedure. 1 hour of consultation and brow perfecting and 1 hour of the initial procedure. It will be a total of 2-3 hours for the entire appointment depending on your desired shape, thickness, and artist.
Your one free touch up appointment should be booked immediately after your initial appointment. The booking should be at the 6 to 8 week mark from the initial appointment. If you book before then, please be advised there may be a higher chance that your brows will still be healing and will still be very sensitive. As a result, it may be more painful. It is your job to book the touch up appointment as many people cancel, reschedule, and your artist may be fully booked. Your free touch up will only have a period of 3 months from the initial appointment. If you surpass your 3-month time, your touch up cost will automatically be $100. Additional touch ups will be at a certain cost depending on the time from the initial appointment.
Healing time consists of 7-10 days but this solely depends on your body and its’ healing. There are some who heal in 4 days, but some in 3 weeks. Please try to schedule your events accordingly.
Please see Healing & Aftercare section on the Brows Page.
Depending on your body, skin type, and lifestyle, your permanent makeup can last anywhere from 1 to 3 years. Oilier skin types generally fade quicker than drier skin types. This also depends on the type of method chosen. It is common for Microblading clients to come in more frequently (1-1.5 years) while Powder Ombré clients come back infrequently (anywhere from 1-4 years).
After the initial touch up there are many factors as to why your brows may not last long. This includes not following aftercare instructions, lots of sun exposure (not wearing sunscreen), your lifestyle (ie you spend most of your time outdoors), skin type (dry, flakey skin), being iron deficient/anemic, using chemical peels/exfoliants frequently on the area etc.
We are able to touch up another artist’s work however, it will be at full price as the original brow was not done by us at Meraki and may be even more difficult to correct.
It is NOT recommended to workout, sweat, go swimming, hot yoga, sauna, or anything that can cause your skin to sweat and/ or become oily. This is to be avoided until your eyebrows are fully peeled. If any of this is done, it can cause your scabs to peel earlier and can even lose pigment. This is very important for Microblading in particular as the excessive oil can cause the strokes to heal blurry.
Your one free touch up appointment should be booked immediately after your initial appointment. The booking should be at the 6-week mark from the initial appointment. If you book before then, please be advised there may be a higher chance that your brows will still be healing and will still be very sensitive. As a result, it may be more painful. It is your responsibility to book the touch up appointment as many people cancel & reschedule. There is a 3 month time span for your free touch up from the initial appointment. If you surpass your 3 month time span, your touch up cost will automatically be $105. Additional touch ups will be at a certain cost depending on the time from the initial appointment (please see touch up tier for breakdown).
If you are from out of town, we allow a 6-month period for you to receive your free touch up. Please email info@merakibeautybar.ca and note when your initial appointment date was and list dates that you will be in Vancouver, BC so that we can book you accordingly.

• Like every treatment, brow lamination can present potential risks and side effects.
• There are risks associated with skin irritation caused by the chemicals, including swelling, redness, peeling, itching, and bumps. The side effects may occur directly beneath and above the eyebrows and extend to the eyelids.
• If you are unsure whether you may have an allergy to the products, please reach out and ask for a patch test beforehand. We will perform a patch test behind the ear and wait 24 hrs to see the results before proceeding.
• Do not use retinol, derivatives, or acne medication 2 weeks before your procedure. Please check the ingredients of your skincare products or consult a physician if unsure. This includes oral acne medication.
• Do not to pluck, wax or shave brows 3 days before the procedure
We are not able to perform brow lamination on pregnant or breastfeeding individuals.
• Do not come to your appointment if you have any sunburns, open wounds, eczema/psoriasis or active acne on the brows/brow area.
• For the first 24 hours post-treatment, it is very important that you follow these instructions carefully to allow for the lamination to last as long as possible and keep your brows healthy.
• Do not apply makeup or receive any other eye treatments
• Avoid swimming/sauna, tanning and steam rooms - keep them dry!
• If you got your brows done on a very hot day, make sure to keep them dry by patting down gently and applying oil afterwards.
• Apply a small amount of oil to the brows with a spooly provided by the technician daily, or more often if the brows are feeling dry
Brow lamination can be reshaped to different styles following the 24 hour aftercare.
• Do not apply any self-tanning products to the face for 48 hours.
• Use a brow conditioner or any type of oil daily (coconut, olive, etc) to reshape the brows. The technician should have provided you with a small amount of conditioner to last you a couple days until you are able to pick some up yourself!

• Ginger – Has salicylate content (like aspirin) that can reduce clotting.
• Turmeric – Contains curcumin, which has anti-inflammatory and blood-thinning potential.
• Cayenne Pepper – High in salicylates; can improve blood flow and prevent clotting.
• Cinnamon – Contains coumarin, which may have anticoagulant effects in large amounts.
• Vitamin E–rich foods (e.g., almonds, sunflower seeds, spinach) – May interfere with clotting in high doses.
• Omega-3 fatty acids – Found in fatty fish (salmon, sardines), chia seeds, and flaxseeds; can reduce platelet aggregation.

• Must not use Retin-A or any chemical exfoliants on/near the tattooed area before/after procedure (at least 1 week)
• Do NOT work out the day of your appointment
• Do NOT take any blood thinning medications (Aspirin, Advil, Ibuprofen, Fish Oil, Ginger tea) 72 hours or immediately after your procedure.
• Avoid any natural blood thinning foods (as much as possible): garlic, ginger, turmeric, cayenne pepper, cinnamon, vitamin e–rich foods, omega-3 fatty acids, ginkgo biloba, green tea , berries.

• Brows will scab/flake and heal in 7–10 days. Some heal in 4 days, others in 2 weeks. Don’t compare your healing to others.

• NO workouts—sweat lifts scabs early. Avoid swimming, hot yoga, and saunas. Premature peeling causes pigment loss and infection.
• NO products on brows. No shampoo, cleanser, or makeup. Only water and ointment. Products can infect the open skin.
• No sun exposure. Sun fades tattoos. Use SPF after peeling is complete.
• FOR FIRST 3 DAYS wash brows gently with water. Rinse, then pat dry with paper towel. Use bottled water if tap water is unsafe. After 3 days, you can splash water but avoid rubbing.
• FOR NEXT 7 DAYS apply the balm once daily in the morning. Oily skin: use for 5 days. Use a paper-thin layer and tap gently.
• Don’t expect perfect brows at first. Scabs may fall early, causing patchiness. A free touch-up is included.
• Results last 1–2 years depending on your skin and lifestyle. Active or sun-exposed clients may fade faster. Use sunscreen to extend results.
If the area turns red, swollen, or irritated after 48 hours, STOP USING OINTMENT IMMEDIATELY
• Ointment ingredients: Paraffinum Liquidum, Cera Alba, Petrolatum, Honey Extract, Propolis Extract, Pollen Extract, Shea Butter, Cocoa Seed Butter, Calendula Oil, St. John’s Wort Oil, Lavender Oil, or Aquaphor.
