We can’t believe we have landed our second time in Burnaby Now’s A-LIST of 2019 for Best Brow Care! Never in our lives would we have thought this day would come where eyebrows would be life-altering. We are finally growing our Permanent Makeup Team and couldn't be happier to ensure Burnaby's eyebrows are on fleek 24/7! We are working hard to give new and innovative ways for next year to make permanent makeup look effortless and beautiful.
Thank you to everyone who voted for us, we seriously could not have done it without you.
November 1st, 2018
Never in a million years would we have thought we would be working together building a dream and helping others build theirs too. When Jenny (lashartistry__) received a call saying we won, she couldn't believe it and called me right away. When she told me over the phone both of us sat there in silence. I kid you not, we both teared up. I said to her "all this hard work we did is finally paying off". I know it may not be a huge award, but this award was so significant because it meant we were going in the right direction. All this time we were just deer-in-the-headlights just going with the flow and doing what we felt was right. People were nominating us without being asked.
We may not be the nicest looking store, with fancy chairs, or chandeliers. We have us and our team. We make sure you are taken care of and our team is taken care of. Because at the end of the day, all we want is for everyone to have the quality that WE would want when we walk in to get ta service done. Hopefully this wont be the last.
So for everyone who voted us,
from the bottom of our hearts...
thank you for judging the beauty within US.

May 13th, 2018 - Mother's Day Charity Campaign
Every year around this time, here at Meraki Beauty Bar, we always like to donate to a charity that has great meaning to us. After hearing Felicia’s story last year and knowing her when her mother had passed, it was a no brainer that we should be dedicating this year to her mother. Therefore, we have decided to kickoff this campaign on Mother’s Day.
Please continue reading to see Felicia’s story about how BC Cancer Foundation has helped her and her family in fighting Pheochromocytoma.
“If you ever had the pleasure of meeting or knowing my mom, Jenny, you'd know she was one of the strongest, funniest, most independent, loving person that ever existed. She was kind, generous, and stood her ground if she ever thought someone was being unfair or mistreated.
Back in 2010, she was diagnosed with a very rare form of adrenal cancer, called Pheochromocytoma. It is so rare that of all reported cases, only 10% of them are malignant. She was told then that she would have 3-5 years to live. Our world was shattered.
From then on, she underwent many doctors’ appointments, lots of testing, and worked with oncologists to find ways to help treat or slow down the process. She became a regular patient at the BC cancer agency, where they found different, alternative ways to battle this cancer. Through them she received special treatment options, ones that would help prolong her life, where regular treatments failed her. They offered immense support and care for her and gave her the best options in fighting this horrible disease. One form of radiation treatment she received in Edmonton even helped shrink the existing tumors for a period. This would not have been possible if not for the BC cancer agency.
Sadly, it became ineffective after a few years, however during this time, despite having some symptoms while receiving treatment, she was still active, happy, doing all the things she loved, which wouldn't have been possible without the treatment they offered.
She was even able to be there for my husband and I's wedding in August 2016, a year longer than her initial prognosis. It was something we knew she truly wanted to witness in her life and be a part of, seeing her only child get married.
In the spring of 2017, she became very ill and was admitted into the hospital. After a long 2 month stay, with the doctors continually trying to figure out what was wrong, they finally concluded. we were told that the cancer had become aggressive, and that her prognosis would be 3-6months. Our lives were flipped upside down, but we knew ultimately, we'd want her to live the rest of her days happy and comfortable. She was released and got to come home shortly after, where we spent every day with her, keeping her company and making sure she had everything she needed or wanted. The BC cancer agency helped us through this challenging time, offering palliative care, grievance counselling for my family and I, even several home visits.
On July. 24th 2017, after a 7 yearlong battle, she left us peacefully in her sleep. Leading up to that day, she had only suffered for those few months. Aside from that period, my mom lived a positive, happy life, where she was able to do all the things she loved, driving, dancing, travelling, shopping. It wouldn't have been possible without the BC cancer agency.
My mom showed me the meaning of true courage and valiance, and though some may say she lost her battle to cancer, they are wrong. She battled it for 7 long years, much longer than expected of this type of cancer. She showed it who was boss, and though there were bad days, the good days outnumbered them immensely. She lived a full, happy life despite having this illness. It was simply time for her to rest after so long.
Because of how rare Pheochromocytoma is, there is not a lot of research and funding that goes into finding a cure for it, but that is something we can change, simply by supporting and donating to the BC Cancer Foundation. They help fund cancer research and are partners with the BC Cancer Agency, which has been a great deal of help and support for my mom and many others and their families fighting this battle. You can also show support and help raise awareness by wearing a zebra print ribbon, which symbolizes rare neuroendocrine cancers such as Pheochromocytoma.
Though my mom Jenny is no longer with us, we will never give up, and will continue to support this cause in her honor and memory, along with many other fighters, survivors, and lost loved ones.”
Pheochromocytoma (PCC) is a rare tumour that grows in the middle of your lower back, in your adrenal glands. It is estimated that it effects only 0.1% of the general population. Because of how involved BC Cancer Foundation was for Felicia and her family, Felicia’s mom had a chance to be there for her daughter’s wedding. This speaks volumes as to what the foundation can do besides finding research for a cure.
Therefore, every booking from now until June 13th, we will donate $100 per booking toward BC Cancer Foundation.
Thank you, Felicia, for sharing your story.
